Tony Manieri har äntligen kommit med en ny bok. Eller rättare sagt tre stycken. Två av dem har han gjort tillsammans med sin fru. Boken nedan, Raahas tidsmaskin, fick vi in till bokhandeln idag.
Tony, som vi har haft besök av i bokhandeln flera gånger, har dels skrivit deckare och dels böcker för de unga i sinnet tillsammans med Laura Trenter. Med Laura skrev han två böcker om Duodeckarna, Det lysande ögat och Stackelstrands hemlighet.
Raahas tidsmaskin är den första boken om Sam och Maya.
Ännu en bok som jag bara måste läsa …
Sams föräldrar, som är upptäcktsresande, försvann när de letade efter delarna till en magisk tidsmaskin som skapades av den tibetanske härskaren Raaha för tvåtusen år sedan. Den femtonårige Sam och hans vän Maya ger sig ut i världen för att fullfölja deras arbete och återställa tidsmaskinen. De följer en urgammal karta som leder dem till spännande och farliga platser, och samtidigt som de kommer närmare gåtans lösning kommer de också närmare varandra. Till slut går det upp för dem att föräldrarna förmodligen befinner sig i fångenskap i en annan tid …

Det här är en av mina absoluta favoriter. En tjock, tjock bok av Susanna Clarke som slog ner som en bomb när den dök upp. Man kallade den för “En Harry Potter för vuxna”. I ett England som vi känner igen, i början av 1800-talet dyker en trollkarl upp. Mr Norrell gör succé i de finaste kretsarna och får t.o.m. uppdrag av regeringen i kriget mot Napoleon.
England är stolt över sin nya trollkarl. Efter att bara pratat om dem i århundraden så har de äntligen en. Som kan visa fransmännen ett och annat.
Då dyker Jonathan Strange upp. Ännu en trollkarl. Som till skillnad från Mr Norrell inte är skolad. Han är en naturbegåvning. Han börjar som elev hos Mr Norrell, men det framkommer snart att hans krafter vida överglänser Mr Norrells.
Boken är indead i tre delar – den första: Mr Norrell, den andra: Jonathan Strange. Och den tredje? Det ska jag inte avslöja, men det finns en ledtråd på omslaget.
Nu finns den att få tag på som ebok på engelska. Missa inte.

Jag nämnde Lev Grossmans förra bok The Magicians tidigare och det är en av de bästa böcker jag har läst. Jag får gåshud bara av att tänka på den.
